Rowans Lane Wines is at Dennington, on Warrnambool’s western fringe. Our Cellar Door and cafe is accessible from the Princes Highway, approximately 10 kilometres west of Warrnambool’s CBD. The entrance is clearly sign-posted from the highway. Warrnambool is approximately 300 kilometres west of Melbourne, at the end of the Great Ocean Road. During winter, whales come close to shore to give birth to their young in the now world famous whale nursery at Logans Beach. Best viewing times are between May and October. The city is a popular holiday destination for families all year round, with its wide, sandy beaches and busy shopping centre. Further to the west, just beyond Rowans Lane Wines, the Tower Hill National Park is an important ecological site. Here, visitors can hike the rim of this ancient, slumbering volcano, or picnic in its crater. Aside from being home to robust koala, kangaroo and emu populations, the park is also of special significant to the Indigenous people of this region. Some 20 kilometres west of Rowans Lane Wines, the former whaling village of Port Fairy boasts dozens of National Trust-listed properties. This once sleepy seaside hamlet is now a cosmopolitan resort town characterised by quality restaurants, boutique shopping and art galleries. |
